About the use of AI in digital marketing

2 min readApr 11, 2024

Medium — the platform I’m writing this one — has recently made the news (woohoo) with the statement/policy about AI-generated content. Good, I supposed.

I always liked Medium; it’s a good medium (no pun) to share your thoughts — there’s a special feeling when you write on this platform — you kind of see the words before you type them in. I really love this minimalistic interface as I write these words — good job.

I haven’t checked the stats lately, but some of the cool kids that I used to follow on M. have moved to Substacks and the likes + one of my accounts got suspended in 2019 for what is now called parasite SEO. Not fair, to be honest, as the content I was sharing was extremely relevant to the users.

I also had the challenge of writing on M. every single day a few years ago. Perhaps I’ll start doing so again, this time more targeted, where I discuss digital marketing topics.

Right, A.I. and digital marketing — Google, Medium, et.co — everyone uses the AI. The problem should always be about quality. The use of A.I. enables extraordinary people from other countries who don’t speak the English to get discover. The examples can continue….

A few months back, I was giving the example of Google Ads. Whoever made some Google ads knows that as soon as you plug your website’s URL into the dashboard, G. already suggests some keywords, headings, and descriptions for your ads. 80% of them are actually good to use, most of the time. Now, do you think Google has an office somewhere where many people sit and wait, and as soon as someone plugs in a URL, they get a notification, and while that person’s waiting for the page to load, they work really, really fast on creating those headlines and descriptions that the user can see?

Is that AI-generated content good enough for people to pay so other people can click? I am not complaining; just saying.

Perspectives.
